About
The first grapes in the Willamette Valley were planted in the Dundee Hills, and it remains the most densely planted locale in the valley and state.
Within the 12,500 acres of this almost exclusively basaltic landmass that runs north-south and overlooks the Willamette River to the south and the Chehalem Valley to the north, more than 2,220 acres of grapes are planted in approximately 100 vineyards. It is approximately 30 miles to the southwest of Portland and 40 miles east of the Pacific Ocean, with protection from the ocean climate provided by the higher Coast Range of mountains.

Winter’s Hill is an Estate winery located in the Dundee Hills of Oregon. The Gladhart family owns and operates Winter’s Hill, from managing the vineyard, and farmland to making stellar Oregon wines, to greeting you in the tasting room when you come to visit.
Thirty five acres of vineyards are nestled into a 150 acre farm including fir and oak forests. They have followed sustainable farming practices since Peter and Emily Gladhart planted their first vines in 1990. Additionally they are certified by LIVE and SalmonSafe in recognition of their sustainable farming efforts.
Tasting side by side their 2018 & 2019 Reserve Pinot Gris! Both are fermented in stainless steel, so the freshness of these wines is first thing that jumps out at you. They are bright wines, exhibiting flavors of minerality, spring rock, green apple, citrus and fresh pear. With the 2018 having just a bit more body, and lushness on the palate.
Both delicious wines that pair well with seafood, spicy dishes, white cheeses and chunky veggie salads.

Barely-ripe peach, wild dandelion, golden kiwi. Meyer lemon, fresh spearmint, green mango. A cheerfully ripe and rambunctious fruit core bursting with green apple, pineapple, and passion fruit zings with delightfully electric intensity within a bright yet surprisingly concentrated display. Notes of rosemary and sage gently assert themselves to provide plenty of clean herbal character that plays nicely with understated floral hints of daffodil and sunflower. Interesting impressions of iron and sea salt impart pleasant earthy charms before decidedly stony mineral tones make an appearance on the finish. Delightfully tart, crisp, and tangy on the palate with oodles of youthful fruit-driven juiciness; exhibiting a deliciously fresh and feisty presentation that is unpretentious and refreshing yet still possesses nice layers and depth. Medium-plus bodied and coursing with high acidity. This 2020 "Lark" Sauvignon Blanc by Durant Vineyards is a pure and complex white from Oregon's Dundee Hills.
Though Pinot Gris and Chardonnay dominate the white wine landscape in the Willamette Valley, some adventurous producers are continuously experimenting with plantings of other cool climate white grapes and have encountered admirable success in the process. This bottling, crafted by Durant Vineyards using Sauvignon Blanc grown in the Dundee Hills, is an energetic and exciting example of what this noble French variety can achieve in Oregon soil. This playfully radiates a range of ripe yet juicy stone, tropical, and citrus fruits complicated by fresh herbal notes, subtle florals, and pretty earthiness. This is packed full of youthful energy and fun primary refreshment, and would likely best enjoyed at its freshest and most vibrant. Yum.

This bottling, crafted by Winderlea Vineyard & Winery using Pinot Noir sourced from their biodynamic old vine estate vineyard, brilliantly captures the characterful complexity that makes this zone a beacon of high quality Oregon viticulture. This wine effortlessly radiates an incredible range of weightless red berry fruits laced with captivating forest tones, pretty spices, sweet floral notes, and enticing umami. At 5 years of age this is drinking absolutely perfectly today, although it still has room to develop further over at least the next 3-5 years. Wow.

From a famed Burgundian producer making Pinots and Chards in Oregon (Yamhill County), this is a lovely Chardonnay made in the Burgundian style - elegant and dainty, yet very layered and spicy, with barely-discernible oak, yet perfect ripeness and body and hints of spicy pears and apples, aromas of sweet honey and beeswax, a rich, spicy mid-palate, breaking like a wave into a long, cleansing, citrusy finish.
