About
The McMinnville AVA of nearly 40,500 acres sits due west of Yamhill County’s seat, the city of McMinnville. It extends approximately 20 miles south-southwest toward the mouth of the Van Duzer Corridor, Oregon’s lowest Coast Range pass to the Pacific Ocean.
Encompassing the land above 200 feet and below 1,000 feet in elevation on the east and southeast slopes of these foothills of the Coast Range mountains, the soils of the McMinnville AVA are primarily uplifted marine sedimentary loams and silts, with alluvial overlays and a base of uplifting basalt.
The soils are uniquely shallow for winegrowing. The planted slopes sit in the protecting weather shadow of the Coast Range mountains, and rainfall is lower than on sites to the east. The primarily east- and south-facing sites take advantage of the drying winds from the Van Duzer Corridor. Approximately 600 acres are currently planted here.

Beautiful family visit today to Lone Feather Vineyard in the McMinnville AVA, a site we are incredibly excited to work with as we prepare to harvest its first Chardonnay crop. Flavors are coming on strong from these rocky, volcanic soils with cool western breezes. Sitting at 18 Brix, 2.78 pH we wager we still have another 10-12 days before harvesting. More importantly, Ty approved of his glass of finished juice.

Meet Flora: Momtazi matriarch, vineyard owner, and all-around powerhouse. Running MaysaraWinery is a family affair, and Flora is aptly named-- tending the gardens, flower arrangements, decor and the accounting. Guests may come to the vineyard to buy wine, but they stay for the rolling scenery and incredible grounds kept under Flora’s discerning eye. And for those lucky enough to be members of Maysara’s exclusive wine club, she cooks the incredible family-style meals offered at their special events and open houses. She and her husband Moe even name all the wines based on historical figures and other facets of their Persian culture!
