This is wine country’s coziest time of year. Cool, misty weather brings us indoors to the warmth of intimate tasting rooms, the hushed thrill of that first taste of the new vintage from barrel, opportunities to savor delicious food and wine pairings and the chance to share this moment with the talented makers who can finally catch their breath and embrace the calm of this special season. 💯 🏆 King Estate did it again – made Wine & Spirits’ list of the Top 100 wineries in the world.
Wineries from Argentina to Uruguay are eligible for the Top 100 list. For the 14th time in our 30-year history, King Estate is among them. In fact, this puts us in the top 1/10th of 1 percent of the world’s 65,000+ wineries.
In announcing the 2021 winners, wineandspirits’ Editor Joshua Greene said, “We award this honor based on King Estate’s outstanding performance in our blind tasting across a range of wines.”
We are honored to be recognized alongside fellow Oregon wineries & the best producers in the world — bergstromwines, brookswinery, johanvineyards, linguafrancawines, ovumwines, eyrievineyards & walterscottwines.
Among King Estate’s top-scoring wines this past year are the 2019 Backbone Pinot Gris (92 points), 2019 Paradox Pinot Gris (91) & 2016 Brut Cuvée (91). Wines receiving 90-point scores were the 2020 Rosé of Pinot Noir & the following 2019 vintage wines: Croft Sauvignon Blanc, Quail Run Viognier, Steiner Block Pinot Gris, Johnson School Pinot Gris & Croft Pinot Gris.

On Day Three, campers experience another side of Oregon wine by choosing their own adventure: an AVA tour, a chance to try their hand at blending and marketing their own wine, a dive into alternative Oregon wines (and a hidden lake), a library wine retrospective, a plane tour of the Willamette Valley by a winemaker pilot, an opportunity to hear stories from our community’s pioneers, a rafting trip and white wine seminar, a sparkling wine workshop, or a closer look at Chardonnay.
