The Four Graces
Steve and Paula Black purchased the Black Family Estate Vineyard in 2003, and immediately began turning it into a sustainably farmed, well tended vineyard which produces rich, complex wines. Doe Ridge, a spectacular vineyard in the Yamhill Carlton district, was added next in an effort to add diversity, high quality and interest to our portfolio. Together they encompass over 200 acres of vines, Oregon oaks, and wildlife habitats fed by natural springs. Each vineyard is meticulously farmed with a focus on sustainable, organic and (in Doe Ridge) to biodynamic practices. This balanced approach to farming encourages the best grapes possible, and forms the basis for outstanding wines.
The Four Graces is named in honor of the Blacks’ daughters: Alexis, Juliana, Vanessa and Christiana. Their names encircle the capsules on the bottles of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills Pinot Blanc and Dundee Hills Pinot Gris. Son Nicholas is known as the “Keeper of the Four Graces” and his name appears on the Dundee Hills Reserve Pinot Noir.
The Four Graces produces premium Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc wines, which are available locally nationwide, and internationally. Under the winemaking guidance of Laurent Montalieu and vineyard expertise of Matt Novak, two of Oregon’s most respected wine and viticulture authorities, the wines continue to excel.
After carefully renovating the historical farmhouse on the Black Family Estate vineyard with Alexis Black Garrett’s assistance, we opened a quaint tasting room in order to showcase our wines. The Four Graces tasting room at the northern entrance to Dundee welcomes visitors with memorable wines. Guests are encouraged to stroll through the vineyard or bring a picnic and admire the views of the Willamette Valley and beyond.
